Connie Horvath, an artist living in House Springs, Missouri, has been working with glass since 1991. She began experimenting with stained glass, and soon after began a business creating custom stained glass windows for St. Louis homes and businesses. In 1996 she started reading about fused glass - glass heated and manipulated in a glass kiln. After buying her first kiln, and a few books, she soon became a fused glass 'addict', being thrilled with the many techniques possible to create texture and color in glass art. Connie now owns 4 glass kilns, and almost exclusively works in fused glass, forgoing the more traditional stained glass artwork that she started her journey with.

Much of her art reflects her love of 'critters' - frogs, lizards, dragonflies. Also, her many trips to vacation in Mexico are reflected in brightly colored tropical fish - festive and fun.

During the winter of 1998, she learned to weld, and now incorporates welded steel rod into many of her designs. One of the designs using both elements is her version of 'Millennium Bugs' - glass bodied bugs with steel legs, many that are chewing on torn computer boards.
In the winter of 1999, she learned the art of silversmithing, and has begun a line of jewelry incorporating dichroic glass and silver to make beautiful, one of a kind pieces.

Connie has previously worked as a graphic artist, illustrator, and photographer, and attended school at SIU Carbondale, IL.
